HAMBURG 2017

The highlight of our activities is always our annual Symposium, which this year again took place in Hamburg in May, this time at the Historical Hotel Reichshof right in the heart of the city. The alumni, coming from all parts of Germany, could participate in interesting discussions based on 3 topics. The first was presented by Olaf Schulze, Director of Energy Management Metro Group, who outlined the energy awareness program of his international company and the significant savings to be achieved in their stores and along the whole supply chain. The two other topics dealt with the BREXIT, why and how it came about and what it could mean, lively presented by Professor Simon Jones and the second part concerning its consequences and chances explained by Dr. Jörg Klaus Baumgart. In this context the statement from the Vice-Chancelor regarding the Brexit was very much appreciated. The day ended with a superb dinner at the hotel.

The following day, we had arranged for a tour of the newly build Elphilharmonie. We were introduced to the most spectacular architectural features of this unique concert hall and we could enjoy the stunning view it offers of the city and its harbour.
